The mussel Yoldia carries its history in the ridges of its shell, layer after layer of filtered water. An object built as an openable box, shaped like a mussel. The hollowed interior creates a space – for storage, for secrets, for what should be preserved over time. This diary is her archive, a time capsule for memories.

Timber with routed and painted tracks

The work’s name ”Modergångar” is borrowed from the description of the bark beetle’s own patterns on tree trunks. The patterns are routed onto a log from an old timber house, humanity’s own nursery and shell.

BIO
Anna Pettersson (b. 1981) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Örebro County, Sweden. She works with aluminum casting, wood sculpture, video, and performance.
In the artist duo VÄZN, together with Daniel Pettersson, she creates site-specific works that give voice to non-human perspectives – the voices of mussels, water, and landscapes.
